Swinging at the Quay Theatre Sudbury

One of our favourite theatres is the beautiful Quay Theatre at Sudbury and on Friday 5th May DIGBY FAIRWEATHER’S HALF DOZEN has a concert there! I’m looking forward to coming back and this time I’ll be bringing my whole band for the very first time! The HALF DOZEN formed back in 1995; made its first album in 1998;from 2002-7 toured and recorded with the late great GEORGE MELLY (after John Chilton’s Feetwarmers finally decided to put their feet up after thirty years!) and since then has toured with PAUL JONES (he of the Manfreds) whenever he’s around. Since 2002 however, as a solo act, The Half Dozen has won the Birmingham-based British Jazz Award for ‘top small group’ no less than a dozen times (2005-6/2008-16/2019) and this year is celebrating with its new tour called ‘The Road Well Travelled’; featuring ‘red-hot rhythms, sweet songs and samba’ plus everything from Dixieland to Swing and lots of our favourite show-tunes too. Featured are our founder members (all of them now big stars on the UK jazz scene): JULIAN MARC STRINGLE (reeds/vocals) CHRIS GOWER (trombone) CRAIG MILVERTON (piano/keyboards/vocals) DOMINIC ASHWORTH (guitars/vocals) plus newer arrivals AL SWAINGER (bass) and NEIL BULLOCK (drums). For tickets please call the Box Office on 01787 374745 and come and join us at this lovely intimate venue!
