This afternoon I’ll be talking to Leigh-on-Sea’s U3A group about ‘The Jazz Centre UK’ – Britain’s first-ever cultural centre for jazz; its first attempts in London’s Covent Garden in 1986, and how the idea ‘rose from the ashes’ in Southend on Sea in 2016, just in time for our new City status.
